Over the past few years, the White Earth Land Recovery Project (WELRP) has partnered with the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program to present the SARE Farmer’s Forum during the annual Great Lakes Indigenous Farming Conference. This collaboration has provided a platform for Indigenous farmers, community members, and agricultural professionals to engage in meaningful discussions about sustainable farming practices, conservation, and food sovereignty in Indigenous communities. By incorporating both traditional ecological knowledge and modern agricultural techniques, the forum aims to empower Indigenous farmers to navigate the complexities of sustainable agriculture while honoring cultural practices and promoting community resilience.

Throughout the years, the SARE Farmer’s Forum has hosted a variety of expert speakers, panels, and workshops, providing valuable resources and insights for those involved in agriculture within the Great Lakes region. The discussions have ranged from soil health and crop diversity to food system innovations and climate resilience, all framed within the context of Indigenous values and priorities.

By presenting these resources, WELRP and SARE aim to build a strong network of Indigenous farmers and agriculture stakeholders who are committed to advancing food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture. The following links provide access to the recorded presentations from past forums, allowing attendees and others interested in these topics to revisit the shared knowledge and strategies for cultivating a resilient and sustainable agricultural future.
